Privacy policy

Hutch is built so that we can’t see what you own. This page explains what that means for the app and for this website.
The short version
- What you put in Hutch stays private. It is encrypted on your iPhone with keys that never leave your device.
- We don’t collect analytics, show ads or use trackers, in the app or on this site.
- We don’t sell or share data, because we don’t have readable data to sell or share.
The app
Your inventory. Items, photos, notes, locations and anything else you add are stored on your iPhone and encrypted there. The encryption keys are kept in your device’s secure storage.
Sync and backup. If you turn on sync, your data is encrypted on your iPhone before it is uploaded. The servers that store it only ever receive data they can’t read, and we can’t decrypt it either.
Your recovery key. Because only you hold the keys, we can’t reset them or recover your data for you. Hutch gives you a recovery key; keep it somewhere safe.
Analytics and crash reports. The app contains no analytics or tracking code. If you choose to share diagnostics with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports.
Sharing and selling. Features for lending to people you choose, or listing an item for sale, are not available yet. When they are, nothing will be shared unless you explicitly choose to share it, and this policy will be updated first.
This website
myhutch.app has no cookies, no analytics, no trackers and no JavaScript. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard request information such as your IP address in order to deliver and protect the site, as described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply to you.
Children
Hutch is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect any information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
